Packers' Perfect Season Hopes Dashed as Brady Tops Tebow in Denver

(Newsroom America) -- The Green Bay Packers won't see a perfect season this year and Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos weren't able to overcome the onslaught of Tom Brady and the New England Patriots on Sunday, as the Detroit Lions came from behind to beat the Oakland Raiders at home.

The Kansas City Chiefs held on at home to beat the Packers 19-14, with Kyle Orton getting his first start at quarterback and interim head coach Romeo Crennel picking up his first win following the firing of Todd Haley - the team's biggest of the year.

The Packers entered the game 13-0 and were expected to beat the Chiefs, who are struggling to maintain wild card bid for the AFC postseason, a bid that was helped later Sunday with a loss by the Oakland Raiders to the Detroit Lions.

In Denver, meanwhile, quarterback Tim Tebow's six-game winning streak came to an abrupt end at the hands of Tom Brady and the Patriots (11-3), as the Broncos (8-6) fell to the multiple Super Bowl champs 41-23.

Tebow's "magic" was nowhere to be found this time, following four straight fourth-quarter comebacks, as this time the Broncos started fast but then fizzled, which is the opposite of what they had been doing over the past month.

Brady finished the day 23 of 34 for 320 yards with two TD passes and a touchdown run, while Tebow finished with 194 passing yards, 93 run yards with two rushing touchdowns and one fumble.

In Oakland, the Raiders (7-7) blew a 13-point lead to lose in the final minute of the game to the Detroit Lions (9-5) 28-27, after Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford threw a pair of touchdown passes.

Stafford threw a 6-yard TD pass to Calvin Johnson with 39 seconds left to cap off a 98-yard scoring drive. Seconds later, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh blocked a Sebastian Janikowski field goal to seal the victory.
