Former President Clinton: Bush Dad Will Help Repair U.S. Image Under Wife's Presidency
2007-12-18 05:54am
Former President Bill Clinton said Monday during a speech in Orangeburg, S.C. to promote his wife's presidential bid that when she was president, Hillary Clinton would dispatch he and former President George H. W. Bush as ambassadors around the world to repair damage done to America's reputation by the current President Bush.
"Well, the first thing she intends to do, because you can do this without passing a bill, the first thing she intends to do is to send me and former President Bush and a number of other people around the world to tell them that America is open for business and cooperation again," Mr. Clinton said in response to a question from a supporter about what his wife's "number one priority" would be as president, as reported by CNN.
The news service said a spokesman for the first President Bush was not available to comment on whether he'd be available in that capacity to a President Hillary Clinton.
Mr. Clinton and the elder Mr. Bush have become associates in recent years, often traveling together. In 2005, they started a charity to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.
