Rice University students to relax and unwind with therapy pets during finals
HOUSTON – (Dec. 5, 2017) – During final exam days, Rice University students will have the chance to socialize and share furry snuggles with dogs and cats of various breeds Dec. 6-8 at the university’s Fondren Library, 6100 Main St.
The library will once again invite Houston pet therapy organization Faithful Paws to bring its most companionable canines and a few friendly felines to the first-floor reference collection area of Fondren from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 6 and Dec. 7 and 3 to 5 p.m. Dec. 8.
This is the sixth year Fondren Library has held therapy dog sessions to help students de-stress during final exams. “We find that our students do enjoy this during finals, and so do our staff,” said Kerry Keck, assistant university librarian.
For more information about Faithful Paws, a program founded in 1997 and sponsored by Bellaire United Methodist Church, visit www.faithfulpawshouston.com.
Media interested in covering one of the pet therapy sessions should RSVP to Katharine Shilcutt, media relations specialist at Rice, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 713-348-6760.
