SPC Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0149 AM CDT Sun Jun 18 2017 Valid 191200Z - 201200Z ...Synopsis... An amplified mid/upper pattern will remain in place across the CONUS Monday will little variation from the previous couple of days. A mid-level trough will migrate slowly eastward across the Great Lakes region, while a strong upper ridge remains parked over the Southwest. A weak surface trough will also remain in place across the Lower Colorado River Valley, although surface flow should remain generally weak except for in localized, terrain-favored areas. ...Eastern Arizona and Western New Mexico... Despite its location relative to the upper ridge, models suggest that some limited instability will develop atop a very well-mixed boundary layer during peak heating. This should be enough for isolated thunderstorms to develop in higher terrain, with perhaps some propagation off of the higher terrain despite very weak flow throughout the atmosphere. Although heaviest cores should be wetting in nature, some isolated dry lightning risk will exist, with a potential for fire starts/spread given very dry fuels in the region. An isolated dry-thunderstorm risk area has been added for these reasons. ..Cook.. 06/18/2017 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov/fire for graphic product... Read more
