Tropical Cyclone IGGY-12 of Saffir-Simpson Category 1 affected few people with winds above 39mph (63 km/h) and few people with hurricane wind strengths (74mph or 119 km/h). In addition, few people are living in coastal areas below 5m and can therefore be affected by storm surge.

? On 25 January a state of Natural Disaster was been declared over the western parts of Viti Levu where several thousand families and businesses were flooded following torrential rains from 22 to 24 January.
? 841 individuals remain in 13 evacuation centers, down from a high of over 4,000 evacuees in over 54 centers.
? Government authorities, local businesses, the Fiji Red Cross Society and community groups have been working tirelessly to restore life to normal ? assessing damage, cleaning mud and debris, restoring water and electrical supply, providing food and clothing and donations where needed.
? Current weather forecasts suggest continued rain fall from today through Friday as another low pressure system moves towards Fiji?s west coast.

Plan d?Action Humanitaire 2012: 718 millions de dollars pour redonner espoir a des millions de congolais
Le Coordonnateur humanitaire, M. Fidele Sarassoro a, au nom de toute la communaute humanitaire en Republique Democratique du Congo (RDC), lance ce 01 fevrier, a Bukavu ? dans la Province du Sud Kivu ? un appel de 718 millions de dollars americains pour apporter l?assistance d?urgence en 2012 a des centaines de milliers de congolais qui ont urgemment besoin d?arbis, d?eau potable, de nourriture, de soins de sante primaire, ainsi que de protection. Malgre d?enormes progres realises ces 10 dernieres annees, des millions de congolais attendent toujours l?assistance humanitaire pour subvenir a des besoins essentiels qui, pour certains, sont devenus un luxe.
Grace au travail des humanitaires en 2011 et a l?appui des bailleurs, plus de 7 millions de personnes ont beneficie de soins sanitaires ? y compris contre le cholera ; plus de 3 millions ont recu une assistance alimentaire, dont 1,1 million d?enfants a travers les cantines scolaires ; plus de 200 000 enfants dans les zones de conflits ont eu acces a l?education ; plus de 2 millions de personnes ont accede a l?eau potable ; plus de 500 000 personnes ? essentiellement en milieu rural ? ont ete appuyees dans la production alimentaire ; et 2 470 km de routes ont ete rehabilites dans les zones de conflit. Ce, malgre les nombreuses contraintes, notamment d?ordre securitaire et logistique.
Cette annee, l?appel de fonds dans le cadre du Plan d?Action Humanitaire 2012 de la RDC intervient dans un contexte economique et financier difficile. Les acteurs humanitaires esperent que cela n?aura pas d?effet significatif sur le financement de l?action humanitaire au risque d?exposer des millions de vies humaines.
