During January 2012, 26 earthquakes were located in the Yellowstone National Park region. The largest was a magnitude 2.5 event on January 18 at 2:32 AM MST, located about 7 miles north northeast of West Yellowstone, MT. Yellowstone earthquake activity continues at relatively low background levels and no swarms were detected. Slow subsidence of the caldera, which began in early 2010, continues.
