South Korea's largest news agency, Yonhap News Agency, reported the North Korean leader died of physical fatigue during a train ride.
It reported the South Korean military declared an emergency alert following the death of Kim Jong-il
North Korean television announced the death of the dictator, who was about 70 years old.
