Adele Leads 2011 American Music Awards Nominees

(Newsroom America) -- Adele leads the 2011 American Music Awards this year with four nominations, while Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and The Band Perry follow with three each, and Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Jason Aldean, Kanye West, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj and Pitbull collected two nominations respectively.

This year's 2011 Artist of the Year nominees are: Adele, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne and Taylor Swift.

Katy Perry and Pitbull were announced as performers for the 39th annual AMAs. Additional acts and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.

For the fifth year, winners will be determined by online voting. Fans can vote at the Coca-Cola AMA voting website, amavote.com, as well as AMA.abc.com. Artists will be honored in the categories of Pop/Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Alternative, Adult Contemporary, Latin, and Contemporary Inspirational. Orly Adelson, executive producer of the show and Larry Klein, AMA producer jointly stated, "The highly talented group that makes up this year's 2011 AMA nominees have dominated the charts, airwaves and pop culture all year long.
